About the project
The project addresses the following specific objectives (SO’s):
- Establishing a classification of IoT devices based on real situations corresponding to typical residential, industrial and office environments, and depending on factors such as power requirements, positioning, illumination conditions and surface area.
- Understanding of the performance limiting factors under indoor light (i.e. low injection) from modelling and definition of a complete methodology for the characterisation of PV device under indoor conditions.
- Design and development of optimized chalcogenide (CdTe, kesterite, Sb2S3) solar cells for indoor PV
- Testing under real world operational conditions of an encapsulated low power PV chalcogenide harvester for an IoT system and benchmarking with a-Si.
- Determine the environmental and Life Cycle Cost performance of chalcogenide technologies.
