About the project

The objectives of the REINFORCE project are to provide open data, open models, digital tools, and a Living Laboratory for the analysis of short and long-term behaviour of energy in buildings in the context of energy communities. Hence, this project encompasses building-to-building energy concepts, integrating renewable energy sources, energy demand in buildings, and short and long-term storage of power and heat.

REINFORCE will deliver validated datasets from its Living Lab, published as valid sustainable data (vsd) on the Sustainable Data Platform (SDP), alongside advanced modelling and optimisation tools. Core results include the enhanced MESS simulator and the SECOEM model, supporting scenario analysis and operational planning of smart energy communities. A monitoring framework for the energy use of quantum processors and exploratory applications of quantum optimisation open pathways for disruptive technologies.

Results will be openly shared through FAIR datasets, open-source models, and publications. Impact will be achieved by enabling municipalities and energy communities to plan and operate climate-neutral systems, providing industry with tools for innovation, and integrating outputs into vocational training. REINFORCE thus advances open science, digitalisation, and exploitation readiness while directly contributing to SDG 7, 11, and 13.
