About the project
The aim of the HYDROMINE project is to develop and implement innovative, small and medium-sized hydroelectric pumped storage (PHS) systems in post-mining areas and quarries in Europe. The project involves the assessment of the potential of such locations, the construction of a PHS demonstrator using pumps acting as turbines (PAT), the development of efficient energy storage PHS units and ecological pipelines from renewable materials. The aim is also to create a database of potential installation locations and tools to support their assessment and planning. The project contributes to the energy transition by storing energy from renewable sources, remediating post-industrial areas and promoting sustainable technologies in line with the EU’s climate neutrality goals. After the project completion, its results are expected to be implemented by the project partner. After the project completion, its results are expected to be quickly implemented by the project partner in the form of a full-scale energy storage.
