About the project
The core objective of the HeriSol Project is transforming heritage buildings from mere consumers to proactive “prosumers” in the energy landscape. This transformation involves integrating clean energy technologies such as Building-Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV), bio-based insulation, and micro heat pumps into heritage buildings while respecting their architectural integrity. This integration operates across multiple dimensions beyond the technological one. Aesthetically, it ensures alignment with local conservation standards to maintain cultural and architectural integrity. Socially, it engages diverse community members in co-creating these solutions to promote widespread acceptance and cultivate an energy community spirit. Additionally, it navigates regulatory frameworks by identifying legal barriers and establishing experimental sandboxes for innovation.
