About the project
MuPSI research program will support the significant scale up of CCS from single standalone projects to large multi-site storage hubs of gigatonne scale. Project results will improve the ability to assess and manage the elevated fault-related geomechanical risk stemming from pressure interference between multiple projects at regional scale. The main objective of the project is to develop a validated toolbox of simulation models and workflows for assessing and managing geomechanical risks in large-scale CO2 storage clusters. This integrated, multi-scale framework will enable operators and regulators to reliably evaluate risks and mitigation strategies across fault, project, and regional levels—supporting the safe, efficient, and rapid scale-up of CCS.
