About the project
The aim of MYCOBUILD is to demonstrate fully bio-based building materials with thermal energy storage function that can replace high environmental footprint products. Our solution demonstrates functional incorporation of bio-based phase change materials (bioPCMs) into lignocellulose fibres bound by fungal mycelia to produce novel bio-composite building materials with significantly improved thermal properties.
The project targets the “Heating and Cooling Technologies” Call Module of CETPartnership 2023. It proposes using lignocellulose fibres as natural porous storage systems for encapsulated bioPCMs. Through this, it aims to develop smart, sustainable and thermally-efficient construction materials, bridging TRL3 (proof of concept) to TRL6 (real-life building demonstrations).
