About the project
The project objective is the development and integration of high temperature electrolysis and biomass gasification to produce renewable fuels for decarbonizing heavy transport. It uses high-temperature solid oxide electrolysis (SOEC) with biomass gasification, utilizing co-produced oxygen as an oxidant instead of air and the heat developed by the gasifier to feed the electrolysis. Hydrogen from electrolysis enhances the H2/CO ratio, eliminating the need for a water gas shift reaction. Moreover, the process includes multistep oxy-reforming to improve syngas quality and reduce costs. It will also develop processes for methanol (MeOH) and dimethyl ether (DME) production, focusing on the effects of H2/CO/CO2 ratios and pollutants on kinetics.
