About the project
The SDG-BASED project aims to support the development of balanced and inclusive Positive Energy Buildings (PEBs) and Positive Energy Districts (PEDs), by creating a rating systems inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The core objective is to translate global sustainability goals into operational, measurable and comparable indicators that can guide decision-making at building and district scale.
SDG-BASED seeks to bridge technical energy performance with social, economic and environmental dimentions, enabling cities to assess not only energy balances but also broader impacts such as inclusiveness, affordability, resilience and environmental dimensions, enabling cities to assess not only energy balances but also broader impacts such as the inclusiveness, affordability, resilience and environmental performances.
Through the co-creation of SDG-aligned KPIs, a digital assessment tool and real-world case studies, the project aims to strengthen ecological and transition readiness of urban areas. By engaging municipalities, researchers, practitioners and civil society, SDG-BASED promotes transparent, evidence-based planning and supports the uptake of PED solutions that are scalable, policy-relevant and aligned with long-term sustainability objectives.
